Lightspeed POS raises 61 million dollars in funding

Date:

Canada based company Lightspeed POS, which makes point of sale products for both retail stores and restaurants has raised 61 million dollars in the latest funding.

Lightspeed POS doesn’t restrict itself in choosing its clients as far as their size or capacity is concerned. “We started Lightspeed because we weren’t satisfied with the status quo. You shouldn’t be either. It’s not enough for a point of sale to just accept transactions and deliver receipts; it should make your life easier, and your customers happier. That philosophy runs through everything that we do.” says Dax Dasilva , founder and CEO in Lightspeed POS website.

This cloud based POS service provider has raised around 126 million dollars to date thanks to Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Investissement Québec (IQ). Accel partners and iNovia are other two major source of funding for Lightspeed POS.

The company has recently started providing service in London and is planning for major geographical expansion.
