In a move that can benefit various startups, the Tamil Nadu Government is discussing vigorously with various industry bodies to frame a start-up policy, according to State Industry Secretary CV Sankar.
On the sidelines of Startupreneurs, an exposition and conference for Start-up companies and budding entrepreneurs organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry CV Sankar said that TN is looking at the developments in other states but TN won’t try to replicate them. The policy should be unique to Tamil Nadu. States like Karnataka and Kerala already have a start up policy.
Earlier, politics of opposition revolved around caste based reservation, roads, water etc. Nowadays opposition in some states are using slow development in the Startup arena as a to tool to score politically.
2 weeks back , DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin said if the DMK is elected to power, its government would formulate a start-up policy for the IT sector, adding that the future of the State’s growth depended on entrepreneurship and innovative companies.
He stressed the need for creating an environment where ideas of IT professionals could be nourished. He also said that taking advantage of the presence of urbanized Tier II and Tier III cities, his party will encourage start-up accelerators and incubators in Chennai so that the city becomes the next startup hub of the country and will introduce single-window clearance for entrepreneurs to set up companies.
