This autumn, it’s time for film buffs to celebrate the season of cosy nights in, watching their favourite flick with a bowl of popcorn in the comfort of their own home. Thanks to advances in hi-fi and speaker technology, home cinema fans can enjoy some truly impressive sound quality that means they will never miss a single word of exciting dialogue, or bar of atmospheric, scene-setting music. This autumn sees the DVD, Blu-ray and streaming releases of dozens of exciting titles that have been taking cinemas by storm. It’s time to bring the movie magic home.

Spiderman: Far From Home

One of the summer’s most popular movies is now out for home viewing as the seemingly unstoppable Marvel Studios juggernaut continues to draw the crowds. The story follows our webbed hero, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as he leaves his Spiderman suit at home to blend in with his friends on a school trip. However, it’s not long before the world is in danger and Spiderman must put on  his famous red suit and join forces with fellow superheroes to save the planet from impending doom. Watch out for stunning sound effects and backing tracks that add hugely to the suspense and thrill of this popular action movie.

Yesterday

Beatles fans will love this irreverent story about struggling musician, Jack (Himesh Patel) who wakes after blacking out to find that the is the only person in the entire world who remembers who The Beatles were and, more importantly, how to play their music. As Jack starts to play some of the band’sgreatest hits in public, so he gains more and more attention and acclaim, until his fame eventually sees him explode into superstardom. Yet his sudden success comes at a heavy price. Listen out for the timeless Beatles hits we all know and love, dotted throughout the movie. The perfect mood booster as the clocks go back and autumn starts to turn into winter.

The Lion King

Disney’s new CGI version of its beloved tale of ambition, power struggles, love and revenge amongst a pride of lions hits the home movie scene this October. Not a moment too soon either, as the rich musical score of The Lion King is just crying out to be played on top-quality home hi-fi speakers. Sing along with your favourite tunes this autumn as you marvel at the stunning CGI and relive the movie’s best moments in your very own living room. Cast includes such heavyweights as Donald Glover, Beyoncé Knowles, James Earl Jones and Seth Rogan. The soundtrack also includes several hits by Elton John, Hans Zimmer and Tim Rice combining original tunes with newly composed pieces for a refreshed feel to this 2019 version of The Lion King. What’s not to like?

John Wick Chapter 3 – Parabellum

John Wick fans will give a large cheer at the return of their unbeatable, inscrutable super-assassin hero, whose third outing was released for home viewing in September. John Wick (Keanu Reeves) has been cast out of the international assassin’s guild for being in the wrong place when he killed a fellow member. Now, with a $14 million bounty on his head, John must escape from countless would-be bounty hunters and seek help from a hitwoman and former friend (Halle Berry) to survive. A thrilling music soundtrack and plenty of action makes this autumn release an exciting must-have for any action film fan.

Toy Story 4

Our final pick unites today’s children with the adults who grew up loving the prequel to this fun family flick. Woody (Tom Hanks) and friends must come to the rescue of Forky (Tony Hale), a toy made from a plastic spork who doesn’t think he is worthy of being part of the gang as he is only a homemade plaything. As Forky jumps out of the family’s RV, so Woody follows him and meets a whole host of friends, old and new, during his attempts to bring Forky home. Plenty of solid family values and life lessons to be learned in this fourth installment of the well-loved Toy Story franchise.
