An Interview with Kwame Boateng Jr, Founder of on-demand laundry service laundrycheck

laundrycheck is the UK based on-demand laundry service aimed at Airbnb and the corporate sector. Using Laundrycheck is a three-step process. Clients choose a Convenient Pick-up and Delivery Date/Time and one of Laundrycheck’s drivers will go and collect their laundry. Laundrycheck then cleans the Laundry with their professional partners within 48 hours. Finally, the cleaned laundry is delivered to the customers at their chosen Date/Time. We recently interviewed Kwame Boateng Jr, the founder of Laundrycheck to know more about his venture and the Laundry service market in general.

Tell us a little bit more about yourself and laundrycheck and describe your journey as an entrepreneur/business owner so far.

I consider myself a dreamer and my motto in life has always been “Work hard Play hard”. Once I’ve dreamt it I must achieve it. As you know that Laundrycheck is an on-demand laundry service, we hope to disrupt this sector by providing superior service to our customers. As far as my entrepreneurial journey goes, it has been a bit bumpy but a rewarding ride, with one of the highlights being me receiving the young entrepreneur of the year award. My next step is to push on and turn over a million within the next 3 years, so this journey has only just begun!

What were the initial challenges that you faced in the Laundry Business given the type of operational challenges this sector has?

Trying to find quality delivery partners who could get the job done in a timely manner was a difficult task. Also, finding the best laundry partners who could give that 5-star consistency wasn’t easy. I am now thankful to have finally gotten those aspects of the business sorted. I have great partners, and a great team ready to take the company to the next level.

What differentiates you from other laundry service providers?

Simple, we keep our promise. If a customer requires a next day service we make sure they receive their clothes the very next day, no ifs no buts. This gives our customers assurance that we will always provide an A star service. Our competitors have the habit of not turning up at the right time or on time. We eradicate this issue.

Many people are not comfortable with the idea of giving their clothes to a laundry service, mainly because of any bad experience they had in the past. What would you like to tell these people and how does your company take special care of their clothes.

It is understandable that some people may not want to give their clothes because of a bad experience in the past. With laundrycheck, all customers can be assured that we will be on hand and answer queries soon as soon as they have risen. We pride ourselves with customer care and strive to make each customer’s clothes a priority.

Startups like laundrycheck are bound to reap benefits from the changing dynamics of the laundry market in the UK and by virtue of having an online presence. According to Laundry Care, in the Home & Laundry Care market, 6% of total revenue will be generated through online sales by 2021.
