Exclusive Interview with Mumtaz Hasan, Founder & CEO, VroneTurkey

Mumtaz Hasan is the Founder & CEO of VroneTurkey. VroneTurkey  is a group based in Istanbul promoting low to mid-range investment opportunities in properties, business set-ups, Franchise acquisition/development and Tourism to high potential markets. We recently got a chance to Interview Mumtaz Hasan.

Mumtaz, Thank You  so much for talking with us. Where are you originally from, can you tell us a little bit about your background?

I was born Karachi, Pakistan and received my MBA degree in Pakistan along with Diploma in Corporate Marketing from United Kingdom. I spent around 25 years in UAE with FMCG, Telecom, Consumer electronics and real estate segments. Then I finally moved to Istanbul in 2018 and started VroneTurkey.

 What are your favorite parts of Turkish culture? Any tips to readers thinking of moving here?

There’s so much I like about Turkish culture, in particular the Turkish passion for sohbet. The word translates literally as banter or chitchat but the reality is endless hours talking, eating, walking, having fun, being together and just enjoying the moment with your friends and family. Once you have Turkish friends you’ll never be alone long enough to feel lonely. However, this can be challenging if you come from a culture that’s more reserved, both physically and emotionally. Another problem some people face is basing their expectations of a permanent move to Turkey solely on short, summer holidays. It’s easy to make holiday friends but, they don’t always go the distance. Just like back home, it can take time to build up real and abiding friendships. Settling in can be hard but it is rewarding.

Do you speak Turkish?

Not as natives, but I do speak a beginner’s level Turkish and still in the process of learning the language. Now after establishing my company in Istanbul, I realized that I need to learn the language very fast to understand people and their culture.

Do you think Turkey is a good place for investment? If yes, why?

Turkey is a large domestic market and booming economy despite external threats from the west. Its GDP got tripled in the last 17 years at an average growth rate of 5.5% promising a bright future as it is the fastest growing economies among the OECD members during 2019-2024. Turkey enjoys the status of 13th largest economy in the world and 5th largest economy compared with the EU. It has a liberal and reformist investment climate with high developed infrastructure.

 Who do you think require a short-term Residence Permits?

Foreigners who intend to extend their stay in Turkey beyond the time limit prescribed in their visa must obtain a Temporary Residence Permit – TRP. This permit can be obtained for an initial period of one and can be extended for one more year depending on the reason in the application.

 Is turkey good for people who are inexperienced in business but wants to take a fresh start?

If a new comer has a dream of becoming a business owner in Turkey, but aren’t sure where to begin. We help them to start from a low or medium range Franchises with good ROIs.
