Kindly describe your journey as an Entrepreneur so far.

My journey has been unorthodox. I worked in various commercial endeavors and had a standard 9-5 like most people. Earned a decent salary and learned a few basic things about business. Anyway, on one of my vacations, I learned that I had racked up 20,000 airline miles. Since I didn’t have enough vacation days to use the miles toward a vacation flight, I looked up on how to sell miles. I found a few miles brokers online and immediately became fascinated by this new business.

What were the initial challenges that you faced in launching Sell Miles?

The first challenge I had was working 2 jobs. I didn’t want to quit my prior job before I had real income coming in. But to build Sell Miles ASAP – establish connections, learn the ropes, build the website, and then handle customers – this took time and effort. It wasn’t easy at first. But after a few years of receiving inquiries from eager customers who wanted to sell their miles. I learned quickly about buying their miles and then selling them for a slight profit. I wish the margins were bigger, and even though I’m not making a ton of money I am loving my freedom. It’s also a great feeling to help people sell miles that they would otherwise let go to waste.

To a layman, how would you explain airline Mileage Selling?

Basically, if you fly from A to B, you immediately accumulate airline miles. Let’s say you accumulate 25,000 airline miles – you can then use those miles toward your next flight and probably save $150 or even get a free flight. But let’s say you don’t have anywhere to fly, or you need cash. Then what can you do? You can sell your miles! And then all of a sudden you can make some quick cash. I had a client once with 1 million Alaska miles – I bought them for $10,000 – both of us were quiet pleased with that deal.

What are the most common concerns that your clients have?

Of course in this business, there is first-time buyer trepidation – because buying or selling miles is frowned upon by airlines and even against policy, clients will be nervous. But it is 100% legal according to US law, so if you have an intelligent miles broker to work with, you will be in good hands. Also, you can look at website reviews as well.

For our readers, please explain how exactly can one avail your services.

Well, if you are ready to sell airlines then check out our website and fill out a form to get a quote for your airline miles. We also deal with credit card points such as Amex, Chase, Centurion, Hilton, Hyatt, and more!

Are there legal issues involved in Airline Mileage Selling or is there anything your customers need to worry about?

I will give the worst case scenario: if you get in trouble selling airline miles by your airline company, they can confiscate your miles. But beyond that, there is nothing illegal. According to US law, there is no issue to sell miles. That is why there are over 20 online mileage brokers who are selling miles and the websites have not been shut down. Of course, airline miles don’t like it because it means that their clients are making money off of their miles which they prefer to stay in their ecosystem. But beyond that, it is not a problem legally.
