Digital identity Startup ID.me , has recently raised $19M in series B funding. Since 2011, the Startup has already raised $21.5M in funding. The funding will be used mainly for hiring,  product development and scaling up purposes. The current round of funding was led by FTV Capital.

ID.me began as an effort to help military members form a trusted online community marketplace. Soon after, the team realized that problems with digital identity impacted everyone on the internet. To solve this challenge, they built the ID.me Identity Gateway to enable users to Sign Up or Sign In to websites with logins they already have. It allows people to do away with signing all the time.

ID.me is certified by the federal government to Federal Identity and Credential Access Management (FICAM) Level of Assurance 3. This classification enables end users to access sensitive personal information, including medical records, from federal agencies through the company’s digital credentials.

In  a statement, Blake Hall, co-founder and CEO of ID.me said that in order to deliver high-value services online, it is important to establish trust between parties and ID.me technology enables people to securely verify their identity so that they can access important government services and other secure services online in a hassle free manner.
