Google buys Fly Labs, a New York based Startup that makes video editing apps

Even though the pace of acquisitions has slowed down for Google, it is still busy hunting quality Startups. In order to augment the operations of existing Google Photos, Google has acquired Fly Labs, a New York based Startup that makes video editing apps. In the last eighteen months video editing apps from Fly Labs have been downloaded over three million times in more than 150 countries and over twenty million videos have been edited with the apps made by Fly Labs.

Fly Labs will join Google and the Google Photos team in Mountain View, California. Though the terms of the deal were not disclosed, it is believed that in terms of value, the deal is one of the lowest in the last few years for Google. As of today, all Fly Labs apps are completely free with no in-app purchases. The apps will be available on the App Store for another 3 months, though no more updates will be submitted to the app.

Two of the latest apps from Fly Labs are Clips and Tempo. Clips helps string clips together into one video and Tempo one can speed up and slow down a video anytime.
