Do you love shopping online? It is possible that for a similar brand of Shirt, you might end up getting different prices mentioned on different websites and it is quite cumbersome to hunt for the best price because of the sheer number of websites offering similar products.

StyleLounge , a Hamburg (Germany) based Startup is one of the fastest growing fashion portals in Europe, aimed at becoming the reference platform for online shopping. StyleLounge recently started its operations in India in December 2015 and wishes to become one stop destination for online shopping in the Indian subcontinent.

StyleLounge is headquartered in Hamburg with an international team of almost 40 employees. Among them, some of the students and trainees are from India. Johannes Heinen, co-founder and CEO and Guido Lange are leading the team in order to provide customers in five countries, four countries in Europe and India, an easy and price-conscious approach to fashion and lifestyle products.

How does StyleLounge works?

StyleLounge is basically a price comparison meta engine which compares all shopping criteria: types of clothing, colors, sizes, delivery times and costs from many different websites and popular brands to offer shoppers the best possible deals, including the items availability before being redirected to the partner site.

Currently, StyleLounge has more than 300 partners including Flipkart, Snapdeal, Jabong, Amazon, Elitify, and more than 5 million products available. StyleLounge also claims to offer one of the broadest online selections of clothing, shoes and fashion accessories.

StyleLounge India has been under beta testing since December.

“Overall, in all the five markets we have tripled the number of visitors since the beginning of the year and are continuously growing with a current reach of almost 1 million visits per month.” said Virginia Reick , PR Manager of StyleLounge India to TOS.

“The main challenge we have faced so far with the launch of StyleLounge India is to provide a price comparison for such a big and specific market. India has a large variety of fashion online stores, with many different players that do not exist in Europe. Also there are products like Saris which are India specific that we need to take into consideration. Providing a good price comparison for every product online is therefore very difficult to implement. We are also learning Shopping preference and mindset of Indian customers in order to find the best fitting target in the Indian market.” she added.

Indian market is vast and is the biggest market for StyleLounge. Compared to European and Western markets, India is more complex due to the variety of fashion, lifestyle products and amount of retailers present in the country. Important players in the market also differ: Zalando and Amazon for example started operating in India, which shows  the significance of fashion e-commerce in India.
