Canon Helps Businesses Stomp Out Security Threats with Latest Enterprise Solutions

Published

on

MELVILLE, N.Y., Feb. 4, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — With organizations honing in on information security and their compliance efforts with data privacy regulations, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, debuts its third generation imageRUNNER ADVANCE 3rd edition platform. Building upon the success and reliability of its predecessors, the new lineup features Security Information Event Management (SIEM) [1] integration and other cybersecurity feature enhancements that allow for efficient activity monitoring and threat detection [2] that extend beyond traditional MFP security features designed to help prevent unauthorized access to organizational assets. The solutions expand Canon’s existing focus on reliability and workflow efficiency.

New Edition of Award-Winning imageRUNNER ADVANCE Platform Focuses on Security Features and Workflow Efficiency

“Enterprises are in a transformative time, and the harsh reality is that with such disruptive innovation can come hacks, data attacks, and other security vulnerabilities that pose risk to an organization’s confidential information,” says Shinichi Yoshida, executive vice president and general manager, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “We integrated new security features at the design level of the new imageRUNNER ADVANCE models to help equip our customers with a comprehensive enterprise solution that can help improve business efficiency.”

This is the first line of MFPs from Canon to incorporate SIEM integration. SIEM solutions collect and analyze machine data from across an organization’s IT environment to provide organizations with real-time indicators of potential security violations.

Many organizations currently relying on SIEM systems are either manually importing data from their printers into SIEM, or not including their printers in SIEM monitoring at all. The new imageRUNNER ADVANCE multifunction print solutions make it possible to easily include printers in a company’s existing comprehensive security monitoring.

Additional security features include Verify System at Startup, a process of utilizing a Root of Trust (RoT) to help protect the device boot code, firmware, and applications from unauthorized modification, and automatic security certificate updates to help reduce the burden on IT teams.

In the coming months, Canon plans to offer further development in the information security market landscape by continuing to enhance its product integration in areas such as runtime detection to help further protect against intrusion.

With business strategies favoring higher levels of productivity, Canon builds on its workflow efficiency with this launch. The new lineup includes improved OCR accuracy for better data records, and a seamless and intuitive user experience. The new home screen can help employees stay organized and the timeline feature can easily recall previous jobs by user.

Canon is also introducing enhancements to cloud-based solutions to help enable flexibility and workflow efficiency. To help users easily access scan profiles, print from available cloud destinations at their imageRUNNER ADVANCE device, and easily track usage by specific departments, updates to the optional uniFLOW Online solution include Print from Cloud [3] , Scan Template Library, and Central Department Management and Reporting, respectively.

“It is our intention that continuous development of the imageRUNNER ADVANCE portfolio through ongoing product updates, new features through our Unified Firmware Platform and tight collaboration with solutions like uniFLOW Online can help secure and improve customer document workflows now, and into the Office of the Future,” concludes Yoshida.

UserTesting Highlights How Inflation Is Squeezing Indian Consumers, 75 Percent Join The Gig Economy To Meet Increased Cost Of Living

Inflation Is Squeezing Indian Consumers
  • On an average, 3 out of 5 Indians are witnessing the highest impact of inflation on entertainment and petrol expenditures
  • In order to save money, 65 percent of Indians are now buying their necessary products from generic brands
  • View consumer responses to the impact of inflation

India, July 13, 2022: UserTesting (NYSE: USER), a leader in video-based human insight, conducted a survey to understand the effects of the rising inflation on Indians’ spending habits and personal finances. As per the survey findings, over 95 percent of Indians reported that growing inflation is directly impacting their daily and monthly expenditure.

A host of cost pressures such as rising commodity prices, global supply disruptions, and more has been translated to end consumers in the form of elevated prices for goods and services across the board. Therefore, to meet basic needs, Indians are cutting back on their everyday expenses to meet their basic needs. About 60 percent of Indian respondents indicated that they are cutting back on entertainment and leisure activities such as movies, eating out, staycations, etc. Unsurprisingly, the respondents also mentioned minimizing personal car travel and opting for public transport to reduce their expenditure on petrol.

Mounting prices of essential commodities

Indians are facing the brunt of inflation majorly on petrol prices, as mentioned by 100 percent of the respondents during the survey. With essential grocery items such as bread witnessing a sharp rise in prices, 90 percent of the respondents have reported that it is becoming a burden to keep up with the inflation storm. Adding to the trouble, some respondents mentioned not having received any salary appraisals in the past year, leading to a reduction in personal savings for many.

Gig economy takes center stage amidst rising inflation

As inflation heats up, former motivations for side hustles, such as paying off debt and saving, have been replaced by a more pressing need: making ends meet. According to the survey, 75 percent of Indian respondents revealed that they are resorting to secondary sources of income to keep up with the increased cost of living. The popular options that were mentioned included freelancing and trading among other side gigs.

Indians replace their go-to shops: from big brands to local brands

Interestingly, the survey found that on average, 65 percent of Indians are buying from generic/local brands instead of name brands so as to save money. Stating that most generic brands are now offering the same quality of a product at a cheaper price, more than half of the Indians have shifted their focus on local brands, especially for purchases such as clothes and grocery items that are now being bought from local kirana shops.
