Facebook is all set to launch its gaming app today. The Facebook Gaming app will be free to use and will rivals like Twitch and YouTube.

The Facebook gaming app will allow millions of gamers from all around the world to stream and watch games. The Facebook gaming app is expected to have the name ‘Facebook Gaming‘ and will initially be available for android users only. Though the game is expected to be available soon in the Apple store.

In a statement given to the NewYork times, Fidji Simo, head of the Facebook app said that gaming has immense potential to connect people.

Investing in gaming in general has become a priority for us because we see gaming as a form of entertainment that really connects people. It’s entertainment that’s not just a form of passive consumption but entertainment that is interactive and brings people together

The app will be feature rich and will allow the users to go live and will allow the users to upload the streams of other mobile games.

The app was scheduled to be launched in June but Facebook pushed its development speed.

Features of Facebook Gaming app

You can sign in to your Facebook Gaming app using Facebook sign in functionality. Once you are logged in, the app will ask you to follow games or streamers which you can do later as well. On the homepage, you will see options like “Go Live”, “Clips”, “Following”, “Follow Games”, and “Groups”. If you want to use Go Live feature, you need to add the games in your phone and you also need to give system level access to this app.

You can also join groups and follow groups of your interest too.
